In the time it takes to mindfully sip a cup of tea — you can start the transformation of your life!

Yes, yes, I’ve been saying this for years! Self-transformation begins with learning to transform your thoughts — to change negative thoughts and insert positive ones instead.

You can choose to do this many ways — but I have discovered that tea seems to be a “safe” way to introduce people to the concept of meditation. I say “safe” in that it doesn’t feel too weird, too woo-woo, too out there for most people. They have seen the meditation gurus, sitting in cross-legged positions for hours at a time. Most people, young or old, can’t seem to do this comfortably for any length of time.

They’ve heard people chanting — reciting phrases repeatedly — burning incense — waving smudge sticks around — strategically placing candles and crystals all around them — and yes, for many people, this is just too weird.

I, personally love it, and have become comfortable doing all those things. Do I do them all the time? Nope.

But sitting down with a soothing cup of tea, in a comfortable chair, or at a desk, seems doable for many.

This ancient beverage, the number one beverage in the world, by the way, has been used for millennia in rituals of celebration and meditation. It has been used commonly as a beverage of hospitality — of welcome — of understanding — even when no words are spoken.

Can you extend this beverage of hospitality to yourself? Can you be hospitable to yourself? Can you welcome yourself without judgement and simply sit down and sip a cup of tea?

Will you relax your body, calm your mind, release your stress, and rid your mind of negativity — while sipping a cup of tea?

It’s not going to happen overnight — this transformation — this kindness to yourself seems to take some getting used to. Isn’t that an utter shame?!

We have to retrain ourselves in order to be nice to ourselves.

Sad, indeed, wouldn’t you say?

My son has all kinds of those transforming robots that turned into vehicles in a few clicks — our transformation isn’t quite that quick — and if I remember correctly — the robots did that to blend into their surroundings. But we’ve been doing that for far too long! Blending in is not how or what we wish to do.

Transforming is taking us from where we are to where we desire to be. And for the majority of us — it is a state of mind. People can choose to be happy in even the bleakest of situations. Was Mother Theresa surrounded by luxury?

No, she surrounded herself with those that no one else wanted to be anywhere near — and she found a great deal of happiness in serving — in loving those who were deemed, unloveable.

Sadly, many of us have deemed ourselves unloveable — unworthy of love — incapable of love. STOP THAT!

In silence there is magic, music, mystery … and much more.

That’s it — that’s my message.
