Yes, it’s back to school time! With both my kids now in college full time, it feels very much like it did when they were much younger returning to school.

As a mother, it is bittersweet to say the least. But as they claim more of their ‘person hood’ as young adults, it feels more sweet than bitter.

I have them both at home for this semester and I’m loving the dinner table conversations now that school has started. It’s all very exciting.

We’ve had a beautiful summer off together where we have cooked gourmet meals together, learned about and experimented with wines, played board games together, card games and the Wii, watched evening movies and several seasons of Mad Men, and just had this really good grown-up time together. And yes, we’ve had dinner at the table and some days it was three meals together at the table — depending on who was trying out what recipe! I  know these days and nights together are numbered, so I am cherishing every one of them — just like the summer sunsets — none will ever be the same.

Summer beauty appears in many ways from many places. With the eyes to see and the heart to experience — every moment, every blossom, every sight, every laugh, every reminiscing story, every sunset, every second of joy is precious, priceless, and to be treasured forever.

This is family! And these occasions together matter! Any mothers — or fathers — out there that can relate to this? Let’s hear from you.
